Equine -> Strep. equi equi

Streptococcus equi equi PCR Test Kit

A simple and cost-effective method to detect the eqbE gene from an equine nasal swab sample.

  • Rapid Results: Screen your patient wherever you are with point-of-care Strep. equi equi PCR testing.

  • Able to detect eqbE gene within 50 minutes.

  • Fast and accurate diagnostics that can improve patient diagnoses.

  • Stall-side care with minimal hands-on time per sample.

  • Validated against over 100 Strep. equi equi samples.

No Fluxergy products have been cleared or approved by the USDA for veterinary diagnostic use. Fluxergy’s current veterinary product offerings are limited to
individual laboratory components for use by experienced professional users in developing their own laboratory tests for research or animal use.

Who We Work With

Tested at a Leading Veterinarian University Laboratory

88.7 % Sensitivity

Most Positive test samples were correctly identified in an academic study.

100 % Specificity

Every negative test sample was correctly identified in an academic study

Multiple Sample Types

Allows for testing with NP and GPL samples.

~1.5 Days Saved

Saved on average compared to traditional testing methods.

The independent validation was conducted at the Equine Infectious Disease Research Laboratory, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California at Davis. In a quantitative real-time PCR assay, a positive detection of target nucleic acid (e.g. S. equi DNA) is confirmed by accumulation of a fluorescent signal after the specific target DNA is amplified. The Fluxergy Analyzer is a stall-side (e.g. point-of-care) platform for real-time PCR that allows for molecular testing within 50 minutes.
Testing was conducted on banked samples and system was used for as research use only.

Frequently Asked Questions

Streptococcus equi equi is a gram-positive bacteria that induces infection and contagious disease in the upper respiratory tract of horses, donkeys, and
mules. Common clinical responses may include isolating any horse with signs of strangles to prevent population outbreaks. Current diagnostic testing includes detection
of shedding via bacterial culture and more sensitively with molecular PCR confirmation. The Fluxergy S. equi subsp. equi assay is an experimental biological product which has been developed to detect a conserved region of the S. equi subsp. equi genome that is highly unique to the specific streptococcus subtype.
